The end of the refill has a threaded blue plastic portion. When inserting the refill make sure that it is gently screwed in to the very end.

Note: When assembling your pen make sure the shortest threaded portion of the metal shaft is screwed into the refill end of the pen, otherwise the sliding up-down motion of the pen will not work.
